AI in DAM? Data protection has a few questions.

KI and DAM plus data protection

AI can do a great deal in Digital Asset Management. But before we talk about intelligent image search, automated analysis and new possibilities, there are usually a few important questions to answer first:

Where do our images go? Does the data remain within the company? Which third-party providers are involved? And is our content being used anywhere to train AI models?

All perfectly valid questions. And an AI solution should be able to provide clear answers.

With the Cavok AI option, we can. PEAK-14 has clarified the relevant aspects of the technology, data processing and external components and summarised them clearly.

So, what happens to your data – and, just as importantly, what doesn't?

GDPR-compliant AI for your Digital Asset Management Intelligent image search without cloud processing or data leaving your environment

Artificial intelligence can significantly improve efficiency in Digital Asset Management. Automated tagging, intelligent image search and the ability to quickly find suitable visual content can save valuable time every day. At the same time, many organisations have one very legitimate question:

What actually happens to our images and data?

For marketing departments, organisations working with sensitive image collections or public-sector institutions in particular, data protection is not an optional extra. It is a fundamental requirement.

With the optional AI extension for Cavok, PEAK-14 offers a solution designed precisely with this in mind: powerful AI functionality operated entirely within the local system environment, GDPR-compliant and without transferring your data to the cloud.

AI in DAM without losing control

Many AI solutions rely on cloud services. Images are transferred to external servers, analysed there and, in some cases, used to further develop or train AI models. For many organisations, this simply is not an option.

With the Cavok AI extension, we deliberately take a different approach.

All image data remains within your own IT infrastructure at all times.

Images, metadata and analysis results are not transferred to external providers. Your data does not leave your organisation, either during analysis or when using AI-powered image search.

Intelligent image search directly within your own system

The AI extension helps you manage large image collections much more efficiently.

Benefits include:

  • intelligent image analysis
  • automatic recognition of image content
  • AI-powered image search
  • faster retrieval of relevant assets
  • more efficient creative and marketing workflows

For extensive media libraries in particular, this can save valuable time every day while significantly reducing the amount of manual asset management required.

Data protection built in from the start

The AI option has been designed so that data protection is not something added afterwards, but an integral part of the architecture.

In practical terms, this means:

  • fully local processing
  • no cloud connection
  • no transfer of data to third parties
  • no use of your images to train AI models
  • no automatic communication with external servers

This allows organisations to retain full control over their digital assets at all times.

Which AI technology does Cavok use?

For AI-powered image analysis, Cavok uses a server-based software component from Pattern Recognition Company GmbH, known for its Excire products. This component operates entirely within the Cavok installation.

It supports two key processes:

  • analysis of locally stored image data
  • AI-powered image search within the Digital Asset Management system

The crucial point is:

All processing takes place locally within your Cavok environment. Neither images nor analysis data are transferred to Excire or any other external system.

One point that is particularly important to many organisations: your image data is not used to develop or train AI models.

As no data is transmitted to the technology provider, all information remains exclusively within your own system environment.

This provides an additional level of security, particularly for organisations working with confidential marketing materials, product images or images containing personal data.

No automatic internet connections

During day-to-day use, the AI extension remains fully self-contained.

No automatic connections to external servers are made for any of the following:

  • licence checks
  • image analysis
  • search queries
  • error reports
  • diagnostic data
  • updates

Even software updates are carried out in a deliberately controlled manner. They are performed manually by PEAK-14 or in coordination with the customer.

This ensures that organisations retain control over their system environment at all times.

GDPR-compliant architecture

As the AI component is operated exclusively within the local environment and the technology provider has no access to customer data, the software provider does not process personal data as part of the AI option's regular operation.

The technology therefore functions solely as a locally installed software component within the Cavok system.

As a result, an additional data processing agreement with the technology provider is not required for the standard operation of the AI option.

More than software: personal support from PEAK-14

Powerful Digital Asset Management does not end with the software itself.

PEAK-14 provides personal support throughout the entire process – from planning and implementation to ongoing operation. Updates are carried out in a controlled manner, individual requirements are taken into account, and questions are answered quickly and competently.

This approach is particularly valuable for organisations that prioritise long-term investment security, data protection and personal support from dedicated contacts.
